Project HEALTH‘s programs are based at sites in Dorchester and Roxbury, including the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) Pediatric Outpatient Clinic, Adolescent Clinic, Newborn Nursery, Women’s Center and Madison Park Community Center. While these organizations and the Project HEALTH programs that operate there serve distinct subsets of the Roxbury and Dorchester communities, all families served by Project HEALTH live in poverty and face significant threats to their health and well-being. For example, a survey conducted by Project HEALTH in the BUSM Pediatric Outpatient Clinic indicated that seventy-five percent of families seen in the clinic lived in overcrowded and/or unsanitary housing or face imminent eviction. In addition, over thirty percent of families reported lacking the food necessary to feed their families that same day.
